Elder of the Pointed Caps, Lord of the Hidden Vale --

Glim Turin

During his early years of tutelage Glim aspired to be an illusionist, not a common thief. Unfortunately he lacked the true gift of magic that so many of his peers possessed. After one particularly hard lesson it was suggested by his master that Glim might wish to seek his fortune through the use of a different talents. Dejected by this turn of events glim took to wandering the streets of his home looking for something better to do with his life. It took only a large band of orcs to help the young gnome to choose his career. Living in the eastern portion of the Principality of Ulek, orcs were a common enough threat. This attack though was something different. The orcs had no intention of leaving. The gnome clansmen were scattered to the four winds, refugees with no real hope of returning home.

Glim discovered he was gifted at stepping softly and skulking among the shadows. The young sprout led many to safety during those dark days. When the family was safe again Glim chose not to remain in the new encampment. He had realized how little time there might be in the world and decided that he had spent enough time holding onto the apron strings. Packing a small bag he headed off for Borderland Keep and his appointment with destiny.

In no time at all he had joined a small company called the Four Points and embarked on a series of adventures and foolhearty heroics that guaranteed his place as a local hero. When war finally reached the home the Four Points had made for themselves Glim was tired of running. He chose to stand and face the onslaught. Many forays against the enemy were made and one of the enemies leaders, an abomination born from the blood of clestials and trolls, was taken down by the subtle combat prowess possessed by young Glim. It took the Four Points most desperate hour to show that Glim had progressed to the level of master thief. In the middle of the night he spirited away with all the precious ore, gold, and silverware that he could find. When sunrise broke a three days later Glim returned with the salvation of Alderweg. The brilliant gnome had sacrificed the stolen hoard so that a powerful alien wizard would be distracted long enough for him to abscond with the wizard's Golem Army and the helm that commanded them. The Black Army was finally beaten back out of the Suss once and for all. Unseen now, many claim that the golems were ordered to camoflauge themselves in the forest and stand vigil in the event the goblins should return.

Turning the tide of the war almost single handedly has propelled the young gnome into the regional spotlight. At one point, as a sign of gratitude to him, the Druid Count considered placing him as Lord of Courwood and its surrounding demesne. He declined it though claiming that prior stewardship of his own town prevented such a grand commitment from him. Since that great heist Glim has taken to occasional adventure with his own company, called "The Pointy Caps." He has also founded a town in the lower Lortmils called Vel Turin. Its a place where gnomes can come to live in peace far from the prying eyes of the local human lords. Still on rare occasions he is willing to make forays out into the world at large. Just recently he traveled again with the Four Points Company to save a friend's lost child. There is also a tale involving great genies, powerful efreet, and a drowned desert lost within the sands of time itself, but there is only so much any one fellow, no matter his size, can do in a lifetime.
