Rings
Crystal Rings of Communication
Crafted by a military wizard for the Great Kingdom during its rise to dominance all those centuries ago, these rings are designed to improved battlefield coordination and reporting by important scouts. They worked only to well for their time but proved useless against the corruption that eventually doomed this proud nation.
The Crystal Rings are always found in sets of two. Wearing one ring and not knowing who has the other is almost completely useless. They allow for free telepathic contact between the two wearers as often as desired, but only while they are within one mile of each other. They will understand one another regardless of any language barriers that might normally exist between them. They only send surface thoughts and only the thoughts that the sender wants sent. The Crystal Rings do not allow for mental invasion or the reading of the other wearer's mind. The secret to making these items has been lost to time, but the rings are still sometimes found in ruins and lost treasure hoards.
Mercy's Ring
The Priests of Sotillon are responsible for the creation of these rare and wonderful rings. It was felt that while they dislike violence the nature of the world was such that from time to time it was unavoidable. More often than not the good would triumph over the evils that it faced, but the cost in life was something the church didn't like to think about. One day the Matriarch of Diplomacy hit upon this item, she felt that even if one life was saved it would be well worth the effort. Since the first Ring of Mercy was crafted several other churches have followed suit, some even going so far as to etch elaboriate miniature symbols and scenes depicting that particular god's spheres of influence.
When the wearer of Mercy's Ring is reduced to between -1 and -9 hit points the ring will immediately heal 3d8+15 them on the round following the injury as a free action. However, it will do this only once per day. It is designed to grant mercy to the wounded, not enable the foolish.
