Brief History

A cunning little halfling who escaped the scourge of the Scarlet Brotherhood as they swept through the southern States. Trained in the art of the cutpurse by his mother, the twain were seperated during their last night in the Free-City of Onwal. Stowing away on a sailing ship the smallish fellow found himself dropped at the port of Hardby. It was only a short trail later that landed the would-be rogue in Greyhawk proper.

Desperate for a bit of hard coin he tried his hand at pilfering. One of his early marks turned out to be the archmagus Drisketh. The wizard, completely shocked that he would be accosted in such a fashion, chained the small thief in his newly crafted dungeon. Chained to the wall with a gnome illusionist, only the arrival of a recently trapped band of adventurers saved his life. After escaping the DungeonofDrisketh Shane and his newly met friends decided to seek their fortunes in the world together.

In less than a year the varied fellowship had traveled from the Wild Coast up the the Rakers and back to Greyhawk. Along their way the troupe encountered cultist monks, orc hordes, the elite of Iuz, a lazy dragon, and the secret home of the Sun and the Moon. Many were the story tied to this little fellow. Some place him as the kingpin in charge of toppling a barony in the CoupofTrask. Others tell that he stole the very clay of creation from half forgotten gods to give birth to his own halfling lass. Legends abound about how he tracked down the Profane Vault of Mordak's Blade, and then destroyed the sanctuary of evil so that the elder vampire would never be able to retrieve that unholy weapon of death. There are even rumors involving the Ring of Sovereignty and the Banner of the Lichemaster. Once in a drunken reveree one of his companions claimed that Shane stole the Flame of Creation itself and remade the world so that his greatness wouldn't be so overwhelming to others. Since he has yet to produce this mighty artifact none can give this legend credence.

What solid facts that are known about the smallish fellow are limited. He is definitely from the Iron League, most likely he was born in Onwal. He still wishes to find the trail of his mother so they can be reunited. And he is a loyal friend who would never abandon a close companion in the face of mortal danger to others if he got bored. It is also thought that he has an almost obssessive desire to use sewers as a mode of travel whenever possible. Lastly, while none wear such a marking openly, it is thought that he is a member in good standing with the Thieves' Guild of Greyhawk where rumor has it he has caught the eye of one of their most elder members. What may happen because of this has yet to be revealed by the Lady Istus.
